First time renting an e-bike? We know that you have tons of questions! Keep reading to learn a little more about what’s included in your rental, what you need, and what to expect.
What’s Included in Your E-Bike Rental?
At Greater Zion E-Bikes, we offer several e-bike rentals to choose from. Each e-bike is available for rent for a half day (4 hours), a full day (8 hours), or hourly, available after 5 p.m.
We have 3 types of e-bikes to choose from. The first is the RadRunner. This is our most popular e-bike. It features a rear basket and pole holders that allow you to carry gear like your hiking pack or snacks. This bike has a single-speed and a step-thru frame that makes it easy to get on and off your bike. With a child seat add one or a passenger package, this bike can carry one additional person.
Our RadRover is a bit larger than the RadRunner. It features 4” Fat tires, 7 speed-gears, and a front suspension. This bike also features a rear rack to hold your gear.
Our third and final e-bike rental option is the RadWagon. This bike has a higher weight limit and is easy to add a passenger package to. It also features 7-speed gears and has a front basket to carry your gear.
Other Items Included With Your Rental
Also included in your e-bike rental are a variety of tools and equipment to help make your ride safe and enjoyable. With every rental, you’ll receive:
- A bike helmet that properly fits your head
- Bike locks for locking your bike up at trailheads, restaurants, and more
- A storage basket or rack for holding any gear you need
- Water bottle holder
- Phone mount
Also, before renting your e-bike, you’ll also receive a quick, but thorough orientation. This session will teach you everything you need to know about riding an e-bike, how to ride safely in the park and in Zion, and more. No e-bike experience is necessary before you rent; if you can ride a bike, you can ride an e-bike! However, this orientation session is a great chance to ask any questions that you might have and to try out your e-bike before you hit the road.
Add-Ons to Consider
In addition to the items included in your rental, we also offer several add-ons. These are designed to enhance your trip or to allow you to carry an additional person or child on your e-bike.
Our Passenger Package is available as an add-on to our RadWagon or RadRunner rentals and provides an additional seat for a second rider. For kids, we offer a Thule Yepp Child Seat add-on that can be attached to any of our e-bike rentals. You can even rent a GoPro Hero9 to record your ride!
What Should You Bring With You?
With your e-bike rental, you’ll receive the gear that you need for a great ride. But there are a few important things that you should bring with you. The first is water. While you’ll be breezing along without having to peddle, it still gets hot in Zion, and you can dehydrate even while riding. If you plan to bike for several hours, it’s a good idea to pack extra water and maybe some snacks to help you stay fueled.
Our e-bikes make it easy to get around Zion. While riding for several hours is a great way to take in the sights, if you do want to hike or do other sightseeing, don’t forget to bring any gear you might need, like a first aid kit, boots, or rain gear.
What Should You Wear When Riding an E-Bike?
You don’t need any specialized cycling gear to enjoy renting an e-bike in Zion. But wearing the right clothing can help you to stay safe and comfortable during your ride.
The best clothing for e-biking is the same as what you might wear for a regular bike ride or a light hike in the park. Wear closed-toed shoes like gym shoes or lightweight boots. If you do plan to do some heavy hiking, consider packing your hiking boots and wearing a lighter pair of shoes while riding. Lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing will help you stay cool under the hot sun. Avoid loose articles of clothing like skirts, or long shirts that could get in your way while you ride. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen or other sun protection as well.
